Harry Potter: Aragog In The Dark Forest

In this LEGO set, based on a scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and his best friend Ron Weasley stumble upon Aragog, a giant spider, while walking in the Forbidden Forest. Harry and Ron figures are included in this 178-piece set, but the real star here is, of course, the giant spider. Aragog is easy to assemble thanks to a step-by-step instruction book and once you're done reenacting this crucial scene from the book, he's free to be incorporated into other LEGO sets. And that's when the real fun begins. What pirate ship, medieval castle, or space station wouldn't be improved by a giant spider?

Harry Potter: Quidditch Practice

Harry Potter Troll on the Loose

Fans of Harry Potter can now reenact the scene of Harry, Ron, and Hermione encountering the mountain troll in the bathroom at Hogwarts. This 71-piece set features standard LEGO-style blocks and, of course, figures of Harry Potter and the mountain troll. The menacing troll is holding a large club and is dressed in his fabriclike loincloth with vest, while Harry is wearing a black robe and holding his magic wand. Tilt the shelf underneath the bathroom sink and it will fall over, adding realism and fun to the scene. The 15-page instruction book is detailed, fully illustrated, and easy to follow. The only things missing are figures of Ron and Hermione.

Harry Potter The Room of Winged Keys

Fans of Harry Potter (especially the Harry Potter movie) won't want to miss a chance to explore both the Chess Room and the Room of the Winged Keys in LEGO form. And although this 175-piece playset doesn't exactly give you a lot of square footage, it does include some neat extras: keys with wings, a shingled roof, a spider in its web, a broomstick (a must), a chess piece, and--of course--Harry himself, joined by his good pal Ron Weasley.

Harry Potter Snape's Class

Harry Potter: The Forbidden Corridor

This detailed LEGO set brings the imaginary world of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to life. It includes pieces for creating the three fledgling wizards from the "Forbidden Corridor" scene: Harry, Ron, and Hermione. In addition to the character figures are building pieces for castles, moats, bridges, trap doors, towers, and chambers that can be unlocked with a key. Other accessories--shingled rooftops, evil foliage, spiders, webs, bats, a chest, the three-headed Cerberus, and more--are plentiful enough to help your kids construct scenes faithful to J.K. Rowling's book, or to make other scenes their imaginations suggest.

Harry Potter Hagrid's Hut

This construction set brings the magical adventures of Harry Potter to life. Faithfully representing scenes from J.K. Rowling's book, it includes 299 interlocking pieces for re-creating Hagrid's hut (with a very detailed interior) and its yard. There are even LEGO flames for his fireplace, and tiny dishware. The hut, which can be opened to display its interior, can be used as an add-on to other sets in LEGO's Harry Potter collection.

Harry Potter Sorting Hat

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Express

Relief at last for kids who just can't decide whether to play with their LEGO or read the next Harry Potter story. With this big 410-piece set, LEGOphiles can take up where the last chapter left off, building their own Platform 9 3/4 and boarding their own LEGO Hogwarts Express. Along with hundreds of more-or-less standard LEGO parts, there are, of course, station clocks, lampposts, wands, and broomsticks. The LEGO figures, complete with capes, look a lot like a certain young wizard and his friends. In case there's an urgent need to send a parchment about suspicious Muggle activity, Hedwig the owl is also included.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle

Harry Potter fans and LEGOmaniacs alike will love this highly involved recreation of Harry's alma mater, Hogwarts School. The castle is a fairly intricate affair (it is a castle after all), but a clear set of instructions tells you exactly how to put together all 682 pieces. What makes this set so fun, and what will impress die-hard Harry followers, is the details: portraits revolve, owls dwell in the spires, and flames rise up from torches. An impressive number of characters are included: Harry himself, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Professor Snape, Hagrid, and Professor Dumbledore. Of course, because the characters are all LEGOs, they all look sort of the same. With the sheer volume of material here, other Harry adventures, or adventures unrelated to the young wizard-in-training, are easy to create.
